Propane is very safe when handled correctly. Here's what every customer should know.
Leave immediately. Don't flip switches, light matches, or use a phone inside. Get everyone out, shut the tank valve if it's safe to reach, then call us — or 911 — from a safe distance.
Call (605) 685-6538Propane is naturally odorless — a rotten-egg smell (ethyl mercaptan) is added so leaks can be detected. If anyone in your household has a reduced sense of smell, consider a propane gas detector as a backup.
An empty tank is a safety issue, not just an inconvenience. When a system runs dry, air and moisture can enter the tank and lines, and pilot lights go out. A leak check is required before service is safely restored — our driver will take care of it. The best prevention: order before your gauge reads 20%.
Properly maintained propane appliances burn clean. Install CO detectors on every level of your home, have appliances serviced regularly, and never use outdoor heaters or grills indoors.
Our drivers are trained and certified to handle deliveries safely. If you ever have a question about your system, give us a call — we're glad to help.
